Good weekend so far. Reading way too many books, although not Harry Potter 6 just now. I went to dinner on Friday night with a friend of a co-worker. She brought her copy of The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf for me to read. She (the friend) is also an INFJ in Myers-Briggs terminology. My father and step-mother, ever the Myers-Briggs enthusiasts, have been telling me that it would be useful for me to interact with INFJs more. Great, because they're 1% of the population. In any case, given my feminist leanings, it's pretty amazing I haven't read The Beauty Myth before. It's very intriguing in some ways, obvious in others, and debateable in yet more.

I went to a Washington Wheadonites meet-up for the first time Thursday evening, and they encouraged me to come along to a Wheadonverse watching yesterday. There was a musical sing-along--if I'd known, I'd have invited you, [info]jissa. Afterwards, since I was in the area, I started walking over to Politics and Prose. Two-thirds of the way there, I got caught in a downpour. I turned around and started walking back the other way to the metro station. By the time I arrived, I was completely drenched, in the way that there isn't any portion of your clothing that isn't wet. During the metro ride home, I got pretty cold. When I got home, peeling my clothes off and getting into flannels was heaven. I caught a portion of The Princess Diaries, which was on TV as [info]duckie noted, that featured the old rooftop playground that I played on from first through eighth grade. My mother called me in the middle of it and told me that she'd run into one of the girls I went to the aformentioned school (as well as high school) with at an event her college hosted in San Francisco. She's taking some time off to figure out what she wants to do with her life, which is good to hear.

In addition to The Beauty Myth, I'm also reading Dinner with Persephone: Travels in Greece by Patricia Storace, For Common Things by Jedediah Purdy, Blowing my Cover: My Life as a CIA Spy and Other Misadventures by Lindsay Moran and Harry Potter 5 in preparation for 6. Clearly, I need to decide which books to focus on.

You went to a musical sing along! That's awesome! When/where are these things of which you speak?

Alas, they are only once a month.

However, we should get together sometime before office preparations for a Youth Council conference get intense or else after. Said Youth Council conference will be happening Tuesday and Wednesday the 26th and 27th, and then I'm also in charge of getting attendees from another conference to the airport Saturday the 30th.

Hope you're enjoying the math.
